DIAGNOSTICS OF THE MILLING PROCESS WITH A COMPOSITE MILLING CUTTER WITH A PROGRESSIVE CUTTING SCHEME BASED ON THE WEAR VALUES OF THE CUTTING PLATES IN DIFFERENT MILLING CONDITIONS

Abstract. The article presents the results of a study of the possibility of technical diagnostics of the state of the technological cutting system “machine tool‒tool‒part” based on the results of an assessment of the proportion of cutting plates that fall within a certain range of wear values, depending on the relative position of the milling cutter and the workpiece. With this approach, in order to ensure milling conditions under which the technological cutting system is able to maintain its optimal condition, the proportion of cutting plates falling within a certain range of wear values is assumed to be the diagnostic parameter. The amount of wear on the cutting plates is assumed to be a controlled parameter. In this case, this made it possible to identify the possibility of technical diagnostics of the state of the technological cutting system “machine tool‒tool‒part”.

Keywords: diagnostics of the state of the technological cutting system, milling of high-hardness layers, and the variation in the wear of the cutting plates at different positions of the milling cutter and the workpiece.
